I went out to have some fun while trying to show off how capable a cyclocross or gravel bike is when you point it downhill or ride more technical terrain. Join me as I ride up and down Sidewinder and Forest Grove trails that are both located on the west side of Burnaby Mountain. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide along an XC climb or descend trail on Burnaby Mountain: The North Rd Trail. This mountain biking trail either begins or ends at the mountain bike skills park and Dead Moped, depending on which way you ride this trail. It's an excellent way to climb up Burnaby Mountain without resorting to the boring Trans Canada Trail, or an excellent way to get back to the car when you exit Mel's for instance. Plus it's got some ladders and A-frames to keep it interested. I rode this #mountainbiking trail southward (down) and ended up on Jim's Jungle and Gaglardi Way at the base of the mountain. Alternatively, you could begin/end the trail at the North Road parking lot. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide along a short but entertaining mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain: Naheeno Trail. Prior to this video I had never been #mountainbiking along Naheeno Trail, a gem in the Naheeno forest that runs parallel to upper Mel's Trail on Burnaby Mountain. It's a relatively flat trail with some skinnies and an A-frame to keep it interesting. This mountain bike trail starts a few meters after you enter Mel's and exits right before the first large bridge on Upper Mel's. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide down a short mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain: Uppercut. This enduro mountain bike trail is the continuation of Lower Gearjammer mountain biking trail, which I filmed earlier. The lowest part of Lower Gearjammer is very loose and badly kept and some online sources say it's actually permanently closed. Uppercut is a much more enjoyable #mountainbiking trail to ride instead, and exits right at the top of Lower Snake. There is an A-frame half-way down the the last section is smooth and fast! Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide to one of the mountain biking connector trails on Burnaby Mountain: Sidebandit. This trail is a smooth gravel climb that connects with Sidewinder climb trail and a great way to get to other mountain bike trails including Gearjammer, Mel's and Nicole's. It is great if you are coming from the west side of Burnaby Mountain and don't want to climb the road or if you enjoy #gravelbiking or trail running. It could easily be ridden on a cyclocross (CX) bike or gravel bike. It starts near the main intersection on Burnaby Mountain and ends at the intersection of the Water Main Trail and Mel's. Burnaby Mountain is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide to a XC mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain: Dead Moped. This cross-country #mountainbiking trail is located on the very fast east side of the mountain. It can be ridden in either direction and often used as a climb trail along with the North Road Trail to connect to the Trans Canada Trail. It is relatively flat with several ground-level wooden features to preserve the trail during the winter. It starts off the Trans Canada Trail and ends by the Burnaby mountain bike skills park at the exit of the North Road Trail. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide down a secret short, steep enduro mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain. This 'Secret' mountain bike trail is well hidden and as a result many local riders don't even know about it. It is not perfectly manicured but a fun rip if you can find it. The various rocks and stumps are great if you want some air but be warned that many of the landings are flat. If you do decide to look for it, please be respectful of nature. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide along a well-known XC mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain: Mel's. Mel's is a great cross-country #mountainbiking , hiking or trail running trail. It has a gradual slope to it and a couple of hike-a-bike sections but overall an enjoyable ride. This trail could be ridden in either direction but I prefer going west to east. It starts near the SFU Terry Fox track in the middle of the university campus and ends part way up the Trans Canada trail. You could do this mountain bike trail on a hardtail or full-suspension, but the ideal bike would have about 110-150mm of travel. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpov guides provides a POV guide down one of the well-known mountain biking trails on Burnaby Mountain: Nicoles, after heading down Poplar trail. Nicole's is one of the steepest #mountainbiking trails and most like a DH track as one can get on a relatively small mountain in the heart of the city. This enduro mountain bike trail starts just down from the roundabout by the UniverCity via a trail called Poplar which is a fun short easy downhill connector. The trail ends at Gaglardi Way at the beginning of Sidewinder climb trail. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide down the most-ridden flow mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain: Gearjammer. Upper Gearjammer is a well groomed and fast #mountainbiking trail while Lower Gearjammer is slightly more technical with lots of switchbacks and short ladders. This enduro mountain bike trail starts right near the roundabout by the UniverCity on the east side of the mountain and ends at the top of Lower Snake Trail. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.

#trailpovguide provides a POV guide down a relatively short mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain: Lower Snake. Lower Snake trail used to include an Upper Snake mountain bike trail, but disrepair caused the upper half to be blocked off. This enduro #mountainbiking trail starts part way down the Burnaby Mountain at the exit of Upper Cut, or just to the right of the exit of Lower Gearjammer. You can also access it from the Power Line Trail. Burnaby Mountain (SFU) is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver.
